12 gazes towards the sky, gaze 6 “the neighboring gaze”
For observers of the past, the stars rotated as if connected to a fixed dome at a great distance. But there were a few particularly striking stars in the sky that seemed to follow their own path among the stars. These wanderers are the planets of the solar system which we have not long ago ceased to regard as gods.
Our telescopes and spacecraft reveal the true shape and composition of these wandering stars yet so close.
