For the past 25 years, Radio Équinoxe has given a special place to the world of Jean-Michel Jarre. We are therefore always happy to discover musicians who, in their own way, bring his work to life. This is the case with Jarre Classics, who recently wrote to us to present their project.
An acoustic trio from Catalonia
Jarre Classics is a trio of musicians based in Catalonia, Spain. Born out of a deep admiration for Jean-Michel Jarre and his artistic legacy, the project reinterprets his iconic compositions using just three instruments: the piano, the violin, and the cello.
It’s a bold endeavor for music originally created with synthesizers. The trio has chosen an entirely acoustic approach to explore the melodic richness and emotional depth of these familiar themes, while maintaining the utmost respect for the original work.
A First Music Video for the 50th Anniversary of *Oxygène*
1976–2026: Oxygène celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. To mark this milestone, Jarre Classics is releasing its very first music video. It features excerpts from three must-hear tracks:
“Oxygène 4,” one of the most famous themes in electronic music;
Magnetic Fields 2 (Les Chants magnétiques 2);
Rendez-Vous 4.
This is an opportunity to rediscover these melodies in a new light, stripped of their electronic layers and carried by strings and piano.
